Face of the Festival Launch

I was lucky enough to attend the Face of the Festival launch for the upcoming Adelaide Fashion Festival on behalf of The Urban Silhouette (we’re a media partner again this year, and I am beyond excited).

Internationally renowned model Lucy Bayet was announced as the Face of the Adelaide Fashion Festival on Wednesday night at the National Wine Centre, marking the lead up to the biggest event on SA’s fashion calendar!

Fashion darlings, designers and media personalities turned at the glamorous party, organised by festival coordinator Cristina Tridente and hosted by Channel 7′s Melody Horrill.

Twenty-six-year-old Bayet owned the chic black carpet in a sublime pearl and crystal encrusted George Gross & Harry Who gown (weighing in at 12 kilos!) and flashed a winning smile that left no doubt in the crowd’s mind as to why she had been named as the Face for 2013.

Discovered by Finesse Models Australia at 14, the 175cm Adelaide-born beauty is now represented by a horde of prestigious international agencies, has fronted campaigns for Max Factor, Olay and Megan Gale’s Isola swimwear, and walked for mega designers such as Collette Dinnigan at Paris Fashion Week. Bayet also dabbles in entrepreneurship, working on an organic farm in Ibiza for part of each year.

She is also a cancer survivor, and has helped spread awareness of the disease through involvement with the Leukaemia Foundation. Bayet is an inspiration, not only for overcoming a devastating illness, but also with her healthy curves, conveying a positive message to fashion fans.

AFF festival coordinator Cristina Tridente says the festival is proud of its choice in Bayet.

“With her excellent international reputation as a model, her embodiment of positive body image, a commitment to health and authentic, rare beauty, Lucy is aesthetically and personally a perfect role model and spokesperson for this year’s festival,” she says.

Guests were treated to sumptuous food and drinks on the night, also taking a sneak peek at the much-anticipated festival program.

The Adelaide Fashion Festival runs from October 18-26 with events all across Adelaide, and we’re extremely excited to be a media partner again in 2013! For more details and to purchase tickets, visit their website and stay tuned for more coverage on TUS!
