Celebrating those who produce outstanding real-time short content on Twitter, Facebook,YouTube, Tumblr, Foursquare – basically every social media platform you can think of – they recognise the best of the best.
The 5th annual Shorty Awards were held on April 8 at Times Center in New York City with the results decided by the public, who can nominate their favourite social content creators via Twitter (naturally).
They also support the efforts of businesses, organisations and industry heavyweights, with NASA,Maker’s Mark and Pretty Little Liars taking out gongs for the best campaigns using social media.
Check out Old Spice’s Muscle Music ad, which was awarded the best viral campaign award (with good reason).
This year’s award winners also include a bevy of our favourites, including Texts From Hillary for the best Tumblr (beating out other brilliant blogs including Binders Full of Women and Eat Sleep Draw).
Unsuprisingly, One Direction took out the Shorty in the #Band category, Justin Bieber nabbed the #Celebrity award, and Jimmy Kimmel received a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Seth Macfarlane’s 2012 film Ted managed to win a Shorty for the ‘Campaign for Film’ category, but we’ll forget that one mistake, tweeters…
Previous winners include Conan O’Brien, Ricky Gervais and Grover, as well as YouTube superstars Epic Meal Time in the #Food category, who delivered this acceptance speech to top all acceptance speeches:
